Rainbow Mountains are located in Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in Gansu province, China.It is a mountain range of densely packed layers of rock and minerals that are amazingly coloured in Magenta, Maroon and Lemon-coloured stone.

These Mountains formed 40-50 million years ago when Indian tectonic plate collided with Eurasian plate.

The area is now UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has become a main tourist attraction in China in recent years. These Mountains are coloured due to millions of years of mineral deposits on rocks. After rain fall the mountains get in even brighter colours. At sun rise and sun set the mountain colours become even more attractive.
