Palm Jumeirah – World’s largest manmade island

Palm Jumeirah in Dubai is world’s largest manmade island in the shape of palm tree. It was developed by Nakheel properties, which is owned by Dubai Government. It has residential villas, apartment, hotels, resorts, amusement parks.
It was started in 2001 with land reclamation and first residents moved into apartments in 2006. All the villas were sold out before construction to millionaires world over. It has increased Dubai’s shoreline to 520 km in length. The palm islands has its own mono rail covering its total length. It has lot of luxury resorts and hotels. It has become main tourist attraction in Dubai contributing to tourism industry.
