Forbidden City – Largest palace complex in the world by area

Forbidden City is the largest palace complex in the world, located in Beijing, China. It was served as Imperial palace from Ming dynasty in 1420 to Qing dynasty 1912. Now it is used as Palace Museum. It was constructed between 1406 and 1420. It was built in traditional Chinese architectural style.
It is spread over 180 acres of land.
The complex has 980 buildings. It has total 8886 rooms.
The Palace complex was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.
With 14 million visitors in a year, it is most visited museum in the world.
The Forbidden City is in rectangular shape with a length of 961 m and width of 753 m. It is surrounded by 7.9 m high wall. The wall again surrounded by 6 m deep and 52 m wide ditch with water.
