Channel Tunnel – Longest undersea tunnel

Channel Tunnel is undersea rail tunnel linking England and France across English Channel. It is the longest undersea tunnel in the world. Its construction started in 1998 finished in 1994. Its construction cost was UK 4.65 billion pounds. The tunnel is 50 km in length.
It connects Folkestone in England with Coquelles, France. The system have 2 rail tunnels and 1 service tunnel. Eurostar high speed trains runs through the tunnel with maximum speed of 160 km/hr. The trains carry passengers as well as cars. The tunnel had traffic of 20 million passengers and 20 million tons of freight in 2015.
