BrahMos Missile – World’s fastest missile

BrahMos is a mixed word of River Brahmaputra of Indian and River Moskva of Russia. It is a supersonic missile developed jointly by India and Russia. It is anti-ship cruise missile which can travel at Mach 3 (3 times the speed of sound 3600 km/h).

It can be launched from ships, submarines, aircraft and land based trucks. The missile has a range of 290 km. It can fly on sea as low as 5 m to evade detection and also it can fly to an altitude of 14,000 m. It is 8.4 m in length and weighs around 3,000 kg. With its supersonic speed it is impossible for enemies to intercept the missile. It costs around US $3 million.
