Anil Radhakrishna Kumble, commonly known as Anil Kumble was one of the greatest cricketer in Indian cricket history. Anil Kumble born on 17th October 1970 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Family
Anil's father name is KN Krishna Swamy and Mother Name is Saroja. He have a younger brother named Dinesh Kumble (Computer Engineer). Anil Kumble's wife name is Chethana Ramatheertha and the couple got 3 childrens. 2 daughters named Aaruni and Svasti and a son named Mayas. Anil Kumble done his schooling in Holy Saint English School and completed Mechanical Engineering from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (1992) and he always stood one among the top five in his study level.
Cricket Career and Achievements
Anil Kumble is an right arm leg brake cum spinner. In fact he has started his cricketing career as an medium fast bowler.
He is the second Indian bowler after Javagal Srinath to capture 300 wickets in One day Internationals and he also holds this record along with 2 other spinners Muralidharan and Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka, the unique instance one wants to remember is that he took 6 wickets for 78 runs in the second innings in the final test which was played at Sabina Park, West Indies.
This achievement of Kumble brought India an historic series victory and the fact was this series victory in West Indies happened after a gap of 35 years, in the same series after scoring 45 runs in first innings he became the only second player to achieve 2000 test runs and 500 test wickets, he also holds the world record of getting more wickets
Anil Kumble is One of two bowlers in the history to have taken all 10 wickets in a Test innings. Also he is the 2nd player to score 2000 runs and take over 500 Test wickets.
In fact he is the 2nd fastest Indian bowler to reach 100 test wickets (in 21 test matches) and 2nd highest wicket taker among leg spinners in Test cricket. In Test matches he is the 3rd spinner in the history of test cricket to have captured 400 test wickets and 3rd in the list of highest wicket-takers.
Awards and Honours
Kumble got Arjuna and Padma Shri awards from the Government of India in the year 1995 and 2005. An Honourable to Anil Kumble a intersection of M.G.Road in Bangalore has been named after him.
