Mahendra Singh Dhoni - The captain Cool


MS DhoniMS Dhoni is an Indian cricketer well known for his cool captaincy. He is the second Indian captain to get World Cup title after Kapil Dev. He is the captain for the Chennai Super Kings IPL team as well.

Early Life

MS Dhoni born on 7th of July 1981, in Ranchi, the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. His father name is Pan Singh, a MECON employee. His mother name is Devaki Dev.

Dhoni is the youngest child of Pan Singh - Devaki Dev couple. Dhoni have one elder brother named Narendra and a elder sister named Jayanti Gupta. MS Dhoni married Sakshi Singh Rawat, a hotel management course student from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. His marriage held at his native place on 4th of July 2010.

Dhoni was much interested in Football. He served as Goal Keeper in his school days at DAV school. He was excellent in Badminton as well. He got selected for district level teams as well on those games.

In to cricket

MS Dhoni's instructor Mr.K.R.Banerjee found his keeping skills and trained him on wicket keeping and sent him to a local club to play cricket. That changed MS Dhoni's life. He become the wicket keeper for Commando Cricket Club on 1995. As he performed well, he got chance to play "Vinoo Mankad Trophy - Under 16" tournament. He did very well on this tournament and got selected in Ranji team for Bihar.

As he performed well in all the next matches, he got chance to play for Indian Cricket Team. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh, on 23rd December 2004. He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka on 2nd December 2005.


He is the second Indian captain to get World Cup title after Kapil Dev. Dhoni's Test and ODI record is best among all the Indian captains to date. MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist jointly holds the records of the most dismissals by an wicketkeeper in an innings (6 wickets).

MS Dhoni's century (in 93 balls) against Pakistan is the fastest century scored by an Indian wicketkeeper on Test Match. He lead the Chennai Super Kings IPL team to achieve championship on 2010 and 2011.
